Kongo campus power problem will soon be a thing of the past – Kaduna Electric
The management of Ahmadu Bello University and that of Kaduna Electric are currently making frantic efforts to ensure stable power supply at Kongo campus of the university.
Kongo campus has in recent times been having problem of epileptic power supply, affecting teaching and learning as well as the provision of other essential services.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, was at the Head Office of Kaduna Electric today (Thursday, 23rd April, 2026) to discuss with the top management staff of the electricity company a sustainable way of addressing the situation once and for all.
The Vice-Chancellor was particularly interested in a quick solution to the problem in order to bring succour in the meantime, especially for students who will soon begin the First Semester examinations.
As a short term solution, the Kaduna Electric will shortly replace the campus old transformer with a 7.5 MVA transformer to boost electricity supply.
The resolve was the outcome of the strategic meeting that was held between ABU and Kaduna Electric in Kaduna today.
The Vice-Chancellor, who led the ABU team at the meeting, was highly excited for the stopgap measure taken to restore smooth academic activities and other essential services at the campus.
The Deputy Managing Director, Sadiq Mohammed, assured the Vice-Chancellor that Kongo campus would be getting more electricity supply as soon as the 7.5 MVA transformer is installed as recommended.
He appreciated the glaring concern of the Vice-Chancellor over the situation of power supply at this critical period.
Mohammed, who led the Kaduna Electric team at the discussion, assured that the electricity challenge at the campus would be a thing of the past.
Kaduna Electric’s Chief Technical Officer, Ibrahim Abubakar and Head of Public Accounts, Musa Manu, participated in the discussion.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, was in company of the Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Auwalu Umar.
Others from Ahmadu Bello University were Head of Roads, Engr. Ibrahim Yunusa; and Chief Maintenance Officer for Academic Areas, QS Kabeer Mohammed Maje, all from the Physical Planning and Municipal Services.
