Consultants express satisfaction with ABU ACENPEE new building

A consultant with Association of African Universities (AAU) based in Accra, Ghana, Engr O A Oloyede, has expressed satisfaction with the newly completed building for the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE).

The Centre is a World Bank supported project.

Engr Oloyede was at the Centre today (Friday, 21st February, 2025) for verification of all facilities provided in order to enhance students training.

The consultant stated that he was impressed with what he saw and that the Centre should not relent in carrying out its mandate of teaching, research and training.

Engr Oloyede also expressed concern on how revenue would be generated for the maintenance of the World Bank-supported Centre.

He appreciated the University Management for the support given to the Centre and urged them to do more.

Also speaking, another consultant, Mr. Scheneida Ankoma, stated that he was impressed with the building, considering the speed at which it was completed.

Mr. Ankomah enjoined the leadership of the Centre to make good use of the place in order to enhance teaching and learning.

On arrival, the consultants were received by officials of the Centre led by the Deputy Centre Leader, Prof A S Ahmed and Prof F O Anafi, who took them round the new building for inspection.

It could be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, commissioned the new building at a brief ceremony on Wednesday, 5th February, 2025.

The Centre Leader, Prof. Raymond Bako, said during the commissioning ceremony that the World Bank approved that the Centre could renerate revenue and make judicious use of it in maintaining the place.

Commissioning of the the building, according to him, would be part of the verification exercise.

He said if the building met the World Bank requirements, the Centre could attract more funds from the Bank.
