ABU VC commissions ACENPEE new building
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University,, Prof Kabiru Bala, has commissioned the new building of the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE).
The event took place at a brief ceremony held at the premises of the Centre, opposite, College of Medicine, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria yesterday (Wednesday, 5th February, 2025).
Prof Bala expressed delight for witnessing the event, saying that it was the first of it kind in the University.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the Director of the Centre, Prof Raymond B Bako, for the role he has been playing towards its development.
Prof Bala also thanked the Director for contributing to the building and landscaping of the University.
He urged other academics to emulate the Director by attracting grants that would bring development to the University.
Earlier in his remark, the Director of ACENPEE, Prof Raymond B Bako disclosed that the Centre is a World Bank supported and executed project.
Prof Bako, who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, stated that the World Bank allowed the Centre to earn money which the Bank also allowed for its judicious use.
The Director noted that the commissioning of the building was one of the requirements for verification.
Prof Bako also said the World Bank would come to inspect the project and that if the building meets the Bank’s standard, the Centre will attract more funds.
Prof Bako thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their unwavering support towards the growth and development of the Centre.
The commissioning was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi; Director, Physical Planning and Municipal Services, Architect Suleiman Muhammad; Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof Mohammed Dabo; and Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof Maryam Aminu, among others.
