Minister of Livestock Development visits NAPRI for interaction with management, programmes leaders
The Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Dr. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has visited the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for interaction with the management and programmes leaders of the institute.
The Minister was represented by a team of experts led by Prof Baba Yusuf Abubakar, who was a one time frontline researcher on the ShikaBrown project at the institute.
Prof Abubakar, who led five other experts on the visit, said the mandate of the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development is to, among others, enhance food security, create safe environment for all stakeholders in livestock subsector and attract foreign investments.
Speaking during the interactive session with the programmes leaders, Abubakar said the aim was to figure out the challenges and prospects of the institute.
The team leader said the team would, during the three – visit, also conduct on the spot assessment by inspecting all the programmes and units of the institute.
Responding, the Executive Director, National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Prof. Muhammad Rabiu Hassan, welcomed the team, saying the visit would boost staff morale at the institute.
Prof Hassan urged all staff of the institute to work as a team to move NAPRI to the highest level.
