ABU congratulates Prof Jha for recognition as world’s top 5% scientist
Ahmadu Bello University has congratulated Prof Basant K. Jha for achieving one of the highest standards of excellence in research.
Prof Jha, who teaches at the Department of Mathematics, has been independently verified and ranked among the world’s top 5% scientists in the 2025 Scirank Global Registry.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, described the global recognition as “beyond individual accomplishment”.
He said it was a feat that would enhance the global reputation of the Department of Mathematics in ABU.
The Vice-Chancellor spoke at a brief session in his office to appreciate and congratulate Prof Jha on the academic excellence.
Prof Jha’s remarkable achievement, according to him, clearly demonstrated the exceptional scholarship, sustained research productivity, and significant contributions to the advancement of mathematical sciences.
“Your inclusion among world’s leading scientists, following independent verification through rigorous bibliometric analysis is a prestigious honour that reflects your unwavering commitment to academic excellence and impactful research”, he stated.
Ahmed further lauded the mathematician for his dedication to research, saying the academic feat would serve as an inspiration to other academic staff, researchers, and students of the university.
“The global recognition underscores ABU’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture that produces globally competitive scholarship capable of addressing contemporary scientific challenges”, he said.
In his remarks, the Head of Mathematics Department, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Fullatan, explained that this was not the first time Prof Jha won such award. It started from 2%, and now rose to 5% of #841,257.
Responding, Prof Jha expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for appreciating the feat.
Jha said he was surprised when the Vice-Chancellor organised the short session to congratulate him and the Department of Mathematics.
While thanking the entire university community for felicitating with him, Prof Jha described Ahmed as a personality with a “distinguished leadership style”.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, was at the brief occasion to congratulate Prof Jha.
