VC commends director, c’ttee members for organising successful research fair in ABU
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has commended the Director, Research and Innovation, Prof J J Maina, and members of the Research Fair Committee for organising a successful research fair in the institution.
The research fair, which was well-attended by staff and students, ran from Thursday, 29th January, 2026 to Saturday, 31st January, 2026.
It took place at the Main Lobby of Kashim Ibrahim Library (KIL), Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
The fair, themed ‘Artificial Intelligence and Us’, was organised to display various research works carried out by staff and students from different academic departments across the university.
Declaring the research fair open, the Vice-Chancellor was particularly delighted over the committee’s ability to actualize the fair within a short notice.
“Let me congratulate the Director, Research and Innovation, Prof J J Maina; and members of the Research Fair Committee led by Prof Ken Okoli, on a job well done”, he said.
Ahmed, who expressed satisfaction with the turn out of participants at the event, stressed that students could take advantage of the fair to patent their research and make money.
The Vice-Chancellor led Principal Officers of the university and other dignitaries to inspect the displayed research works at the three-day fair.
The Chairman, Ahmadu Bello University Research Fair Committee, Prof Ken Okoli, appreciated the university management for introducing the event.
Prof Okoli, who teaches at the Department of Fine Arts, was particularly grateful for the support the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, extended to the committee towards the success of the fair.
The research fair committee chair, who told the Vice-Chancellor that the fair had come to stay, assured that the event would continue to encourage students to improve their performance.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond B Bako; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Rafindadi Aliyu, witnessed the event.
Others present were the Registrar, Rabiu Samaila; Bursar, Malam Mohammad Bello Gurin; and Ag. University Librarian, Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Mohammed.
They also included the Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education, Prof M I Umar-Buratai, Director, Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof Bello Mukhtar; and Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita, the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor.
