ABU Biz Admin Dept holds international conference, doctoral colloquium
The Department of Business Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has organised an International Conference and Doctoral Colloquium on Management, Enterpreneurship and Rural Finance.
The event, themed “Innovations in Management, Enterprenuership and Rural Finance for Sustainable Development in Emerging Economies”, was held under the chairmanship Prof Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah.
Represented by the former Vice-Chancellor Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Prof Mohammed Nasiru Maiturare, the Chairman of the Occasion called on participants to be innovators and challenge norms while coming up with globally accepted but locally tailored solutions.
He challenged them to make meaningful contributions to management as that would help in solving a myriad of Nigeria’s problems.
Declaring the conference open, the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, encouraged the students to make use of the Directorate of Research and Innovation to help perfect their ideas to commerciable stage.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, the Vice-Chancellor also told the students that with centers like ICERFE and the coming of the innovation hub by AMA Pharmaceuticals, ABU students should actualize their innovations and ideas even before graduation.
He pointed out that these centers have the weight to help polish ideas for investors.
He wished everyone wonderful deliberations and fruitful outcome.
The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, charged Management to review curriculum and remove obsolete courses while adding new ones in line with global trends.
The royal father said he believed ABU has the capacity and capability to offer courses such as ones offered by world class universities like Harvard University.
He cited the Management Program (GMP) for individuals in managerial positions that help them become more effective in leadership.
In a keynote address, the Chairman, ICPC, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, called for the ethical usage of grants and funds.
Represented by Kaduna State Resident Anti Corruption Commissioner, Ishaku Sakaba, the ICPC chair warned that all funds not used should be returned to avoid legal issues.
He encouraged participants to always come up with innovations that would solve the needs of their immediate societies thereby bringing about development.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Head, Department of Business Administration, Dr Sahnun Ladan, thanked all Invited guests, especially the Emir of Zazzau for his support and presence at the conference.
The Head of Department commended the University Management and all attendees for engaging in the challenge of moving boundaries in management.
