Bangladesh seeks partnership with Ahmadu Bello University
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Ambassador Miah MD Mainul Kabir, has visited Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for partnership with the institution.
Speaking when he called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, in Zaria on Monday, 9th February, 2026, the envoy said it was an honor to be in the university and to seek partnership in different areas.
He was accompanied on the visit to ABU by a Minister from Bangladesh, MD Faruk Hussain.
The President of Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA), Farouk Sulaiman Farsman and his officials were also on the envoy’s entourage.
He explained that Bangladesh had a lot to offer ABU and both shared a common goal of empowering youths.
The envoy explained that Bangladesh, like Nigeria, had a large youth population and hoped to use it to advantage.
According to him, Bangladesh has textile, medical and agricultural colleges with rice industries that would go a long way in knowledge and research sharing.
He explained that they interacted with students to find areas of interest and explore the focus and drive of students.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, expressed delight that ABU was found worthy of this collaboration.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, the Vice-Chancellor said collaboration like this would help in realizing the aims of the university’s founding fathers.
He also listed the university’s Department of Textile, the robust agricultural complex, the College of Medical Sciences as few areas that could be easily partnered with.
The Vice-Chancellor assured that a committee would be set up to oversee the areas for partnership and hopefully that would lead to signing of a memorandum of understanding.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond B Bako; and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi were present during the visit.
Others present were the representatives of Registrar and Director, Academic Planning and Monitoring, Dalhatu Salihu and Abdullahi Salisu respectively.
