Ahmadu Bello University Senate honours outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor with standing ovation
The Senate of Ahmadu Bello University has honoured the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, for his outstanding performance.
Prof Doko was honoured today – Thursday, 28th August, 2025 – at the Senate meeting when the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, announced the expiration of his tenure.
No sooner the Vice-Chancellor had finished pouring encomiums on Prof Doko than all members of the Senate had risen, clapping for the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the University Management held a valedictory session for him on Tuesday, 26th August, 2025, reiterating that he would continue tap from his wealth of experience.
Prof Ahmed said he would have renominated Doko for the third term as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, but for the University Laws that provide only two terms (four years) tenure for that position.
The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged Doko’s hard work and sincerity of purpose, stressing that such attributes made him to stand out as an eminent personality.
He expressed gratitude to the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor for the selfless service and prayed to God to continue to strengthen him in good health and wisdom.
In his remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond B Bako, extolled Prof Doko’s virtues, describing him as “a young man with a lot of wisdom”.
Prof Bako explained that Doko guided him rightly when he was newly appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic.
Responding, Prof Doko expressed immense gratitude to members of the Senate for the honour.
The outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to seek for forgiveness, just as he was quick to forgive whoever he might have offended in the course of his work.
