THE Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibrahim Garba has on Thursday 17th October 2019 charged the newly recruited administrative staff of Ahmadu Bello University to be law abiding and discharge their duties according to the laws and dictates of the Public service of the Federal republic.
The V.C who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Prof. D.D. Ameh spoke at a one day workshop organised by the Staff Training and Development Unit, ABU Zaria, with the theme OVERVIEW OF REGISTRY MANDATE IN A TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS held at the Department of Glass and Silicon Technology, ABU Phase 2,Samaru, Zaria.
The V.C also appreciated the management for organising workshop and for carefully choosing the theme and also citing speech of a renown scholar Michael Armstrong who said ''Induction came-in in the process of receiving and welcoming employee when he first join an organisation and giving him the basic information he needs to settle quickly and happily start work''.
Prof. Garba also added that the workshop is very important to the newly recruited staff as it will benefit the employer as well as the employee, The VC also advice the new employees to be loyal to seniors and do the work assign to them.
In his welcome address Mal. A.A Kundila said it is part of the new development the university witnessed that from the last two years, the registry unit is receiving a Grant of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira for training of its staff every year.
Malam Kundila also added that looking at the large number of staff at Ahmadu Bello University, the amount is very little to cater all the needs for Training.
The registrar also maintained that administration is all about learning experience from elders, he also advice the newly recruited staff to familiarised themselves with the rules and regulations of the Public service.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Workshop Alh.Suleiman Dauda in his lead speech titled FIRST THING FIRST:DISPLINE AND WORK ETHICS IN UNIVERSITY SERVICE charged the newly staff to shun from taking bribe, and advised them to be punctual.
Mr.Suleiman who was the pioneer Registrar of the Federal University Gashua,Yobe State also warned that civil workers should be security conscious at all times especially when discharging their different duties, he also advices that wokers should be good to all.
People in attendance at the workshop include the Deputy Registrar Human resources Mal. Rabi'u Samaila, Barrister Eme among others.
