Dr. Emmanuel Oluwadare Balogun of the Department of Biochemistry, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has been awarded a US-Africa Frontiers Fellowship by the US National Academy of Science Engineering and Medicine (NASEM).

The Academy’s Senior Director, Capacity Theme Policy and Global Affairs, Dr. Dalal Najib, said in a letter conveying the award of the fellowship to Balogun that the award followed the selection of his seed grant application.

“On behalf of the US National Academy of Sciences, we are delighted to inform you that your seed grant application has been selected and that you are awarded an U.S. – Africa Frontiers Fellowship along with Prof. Deji Akinwande”, it said.

The awardee is one of the 10 selected from 890 applications from across the globe to be awarded the Fellowship.

The award is a combination of seed grant and fellowship. It is to initiate designing a plurisdisciplinary project in collaboration with Prof. Deji Akinwande of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Texas.

Expectedly, the fellowship award will lay the foundation for collaboration between Ahmadu Bello University and University of Texas, which will support students and staff exchanges between the two institutions.

Dr. Najib congratulated Dr. Balogun on winning the fellowship award and wished him all the best in the research effort.
