The Faculty of Engineering was established in 1962 as one of the four pioneering Faculties of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. This is with a vision to train high level technical manpower to advance the technological development of the then northern region, Nigeria as whole as well as make global impact. The faculty provide you with a platform to leverage on your ingenuity and creativity to solve problems bedeviling mankind.

In line with global trend and the need of our society today, two new undergraduate programs in Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering were approved for take-off in the 2016/2017 session with preparation reaching advanced stage for the approval of the Industrial and Systems Engineering program. We, therefore, invite you to take this opportunity and be one of our pioneering student. The faculty members work in teams across disciplines confronting problems that are multidisciplinary in nature. It play host to two professorial chairs: the Shell and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund Chairs. These research groups have recorded breakthroughs leading to patents in the field of Oil and Gas. Also, the NLNG donated sets of analytical equipment to the faculty worth millions of dollars which is currently being housed in the NLNG multi user laboratory in the New Engineering Complex (old CADD building). Obviously this will enable the faculty undertake research at the cutting edge of knowledge and make break through inventions. Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering

Automotive Mechatronics is a life-cycle activity that involves the multidisciplinary integration of automotive mechanical and electronic systems. You will gain skills across automotive-specific mechanics, electronics, communication, advanced control and modelling.

Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering

The objectives of the Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering Programme are: ... Development of engineers who would be able to solve ecological problems, design and manage irrigation, drainage, water and soil conservation structures.

Chemical & Petroleum Engineering

Petroleum engineers use knowledge of fluid and rock properties in subsurface environments with methods of producing oil and gas safely and economically.

Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines because it deals with constructed environment including planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.

Computer Engineering

Computer engineering is a branch of engineering that integrates several fields of computer science and electronic engineering required to develop computer hardware and software. Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering (or electrical engineering), software design, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microcontrollers, microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work but also how they integrate into the larger picture.

Communication Engineering

Communications engineering is an engineering discipline centered on electrical and computer engineering which seeks to support and enhance telecommunication systems.The work ranges from basic circuit design to strategic mass developments. A communication engineer is responsible for designing and overseeing the installation of telecommunications equipment and facilities, such as complex electronic switching systems, and other plain old telephone service facilities, optical fiber cabling, IP networks, and microwave transmission systems. Communication engineering also overlaps with broadcast engineering.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is one of the newer branches of engineering, and dates back to the late 19th century. It is the branch of engineering that deals with the technology of electricity. Electrical engineers work on a wide range of components, devices and systems, from tiny microchips to huge power station generators.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies engineering, physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines.

Metallurgical & Materials Engineering

Metallurgical engineering is the study of metals. Combining theory and practice, degree programs cover the mining, extraction, design and processing of metals, as well as how metals react to environmental changes or stress. Students also learn fundamental engineering principles.

Water Resources & Environmental Engineering

Water Resources and Environmental Engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with prediction, planning, development and management of water resources and application of engineering principles to improve and protect the environment
