International Conference of the Nigerian Meteorological Society (NMetS)
"ZARIA 2011"

  • Scheduled to hold at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria

  • Date:    13th to 17th November, 2011

Theme:    Climate Change Impact: Risks and Opportunities

That the climate of the world is changing is no more news and the issues of climate change are no longer the abstract issues that the society considered in the past, but recent developments have revealed that the impact of climate change is on the man on the street. A change in climate will have wide-ranging effects on the environment, and on socio-economic and related sectors, including water resources, agriculture and food security, human health, terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity and coastal zones. This year’s International Conference of the Nigerian Meteorological Society is expected to address the risks and opportunities of Climate change Impacts.

The Nigerian Meteorological Society was established in 1986 to promote the science of Meteorology in every aspect. It has a wide spread membership across disciplines and across Nigeria. It is also linked to the World Meteorological Organization. It has been working in collaboration with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
