Welcome to Zaria

Zaria is a city of north-central Nigeria south-southwest of Kano. It  was the capital of the Hausa kingdom of Zazzau. In the late 1490s, and with the coming of Islam, trade flourished in the city such that by the 70´s, Zaria was regarded as the centre of cotton in Nigeria. The old part of the city was originally surrounded by walls, although these have now largely collapsed.
